Professor Masato Shibuya
Masato Shibuya is the Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Polytechnic University. He graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1977 with a master's degree in physics and joined Nikon Corporation. He had been designing space and lithography optics, studying fundamental theories of lens optics and resolution enhancement technology, and developing automatic lens designing program. He is an inventor of phase-shifting mask. He received his PhD from the University of Tokyo in 1996. He joined Tokyo Polytechnic University in 2001 and had been a professor from 2018 to 2021. He has been studying lens optics and imaging theories. He has been an expert for ISO/TC172(Optics and Photonics)/SC1 (Fundamental Standards) from 2003. He received the Prize of Director General of Science and Technology Agency in 1996, Takuma Award of JSAP in 2009, Takano Award of JSAP in 2021, and Rudolf and Hilda Kingslake Award of SPIE in 2022. He has been a Fellow of SPIE and JSAP.
